About Us

The members of the IIB Greater Philadelphia Group are Accredited Associates of the Institute for Independent Business (IIB), a Not-For-Profit research, training and accreditation organization established in 1984 to provide practical advice that works to Small and Medium Size Enterprises (SME’s).

Independent Businesses and their owners/managers most often operate in isolation... without the networks of contacts and information services available to large companies. The IIB created an accreditation program looking to rectify this imbalance by providing SME's cost-effective assistance through its network of over 3,000 Accredited Associates with over fifty located directly in the Greater Philadelphia Region (the "GPR"), who are mature business professionals from every imaginable discipline.

Our members provide practical advice, useful information, and hands-on help to owners of SME'S to improve the performance of their business, and to open doors to important, innovative, and profitable opportunities. An Accredited Associate can examine all areas of your business to identify cost savings and lost cash opportunities - often amounting to substantial extra profits for your business.

The IIB’s Aims and Objectives as supported by our group members are:
  • To bring to independent business the most useful advice and timely ideas from knowledgeable experts, academics and business innovators; to open doors to important and profitable opportunities; to raise the professional standards of independent business practice; to enhance the image of independent business and its advisers.
  • To advance the understanding of the workings of independent business by research in relevant fields alone or in co-operation with other interested and competent bodies, academic and commercial.
  • To provide research facilities pertaining to independent business for the benefit of and use by other persons or bodies, academic and commercial.
  • To disseminate such findings and information as may be useful to the operators of independent business by all means expedient, more particularly through training courses, educational programs, conferences, journals and other publications or media.
  • To educate, train and generally support advisers to the independent business sector such that the adviser may be accredited by the Institute at an appropriate level.
  • To raise funds for the purpose of financing such activities as may meet the objects of the Institute by all means, including the charging of tuition fees, license fees, research fees, subscription fees and such other charges, as may from time to time be appropriate.
  • To carry on any other business activities, which may seem to the Institute capable of being advantageously carried on in furtherance of the Institute’s objectives.
